The Bergonzi String Quartet typically spends the summer performing and teaching at music festivals such as the popular Pine Mountain Music Festival on the campus of Michigan Tech. University of Houghton, Michigan. Away from their full time jobs at the University of Miami, the quartet members, both individually and as a foursome, make recordings such as two 20th century quartets bearing the Fleur de son label. Both the Debussy String Quartet and the Ginastera String Quartet No. 1 are important works historically, but they stand on their own as great music even today: the Debussy, with its lush, rich harmony and poignant melodic flow, and the Ginastera's driving rhythms and passionate Latin flavor.  Their latest compact disc, released in the spring of 2009, is entitled For Bergonzi Four, and features works written especially for the quartet.
