A pulsing, throbbing, exciting performance of the seldom heard Quartet No. 1 by Argentinian composer Alberto Ginastera (1916-1983) heads this release, with strong strong performances of the more familiar "Italian Serenade" by Hugo Wolf and Debussy's Quartet in G also included. The violist of the Bergonzi String Quartet, in residence at the University of Miami, is Pamela McConnell, well remembered locally as Pamela Benjamin when she was a member of the Rowe String Quartet at the University at Buffalo.
